Chrome for Android rolled out the Touch To Search feature with it's latest update. But, till date, I have not been able to try that out. There are users who reported the same issue.
Here is how you can try to activate it.
1. Open chrome and enter chrome://flags#contextual-search in the address bar.
2. Check enabled in the list of options you get for contexual-search.
3. Scroll to the bottom and select relaunch.
Hopefully, the touch to search feature is activated. It didn't work for me. If it didn't work for you and you are desperate, try Chrome Beta instead. For now, I am sticking to doing nothing. I'll wait for the issue to be fixed.
